Chapter 13 of "Growing Up"

Donna picked up the phone and punched in Taylor's phone number. Someone picked up on the third ring.

"Hello?" the voice said.

"Hey Ike," Donna said. "Is Tay there?"

"Hang on," Ike said. A few seconds later, Taylor picked up the phone.

"Hey Donna," he said. "What's up?"

"Hi Tay," Donna said. "You still up to hanging out?"

"Sure," Taylor said. "Come over in about 10 minutes, okay?"

"All right, see you then," Donna said. "Love you."

"Love you too," Taylor said.

Donna hung up the phone, and walked over to her dresser. She decided she looked fine in her carpenter jeans and a long sleeved blue shirt. She quickly put her hair in a loose braid and put on some strawberry-flavored lip gloss. She pulled open her closet door and pulled out her corduroy jacket. Donna put it on, looked at herself in the mirror one last time, and exited her bedroom. She walked down to the kitchen and opened the fridge. She grabbed a can of Dr. Pepper and quickly drank it. After writing her mother a note in case she got back before her, Donna tossed the empty can in the trash and walked down the hall to the front door.

Taylor ran up the stairs after hanging up the phone with Donna and entered his room. Isaac was standing in front of the mirror combing his hair. Taylor wordlessly walked over to the closet to find a shirt to wear. He was already wearing his favorite jeans. He found his maroon Adidas shirt and pulled it on. He grabbed a rubber band off the bedroom floor and quickly pulled his hair back in a ponytail.

"Is Jess coming over?" he asked Ike as he splashed on some CKbe. Isaac nodded as the doorbell rang.

"That's probably her," he said. "I'll get it!" he called, running out of the room. Taylor quickly grabbed his necklaces off the dresser and put them on.

"Taylor!" Isaac called from downstairs. "Donna's here!!" Taylor ran out of the room and down the stairs. Donna was standing by the front door. Taylor walked over to her and gave her a hug. He wanted to kiss her, but Isaac was standing right there watching them.

"You look nice," Taylor said. Donna smiled.

"Thanks," she said. "So what are we going to do?"

"Well, Jess is coming over, and we'll probably just sit around and be bored until someone comes up with a good idea," Taylor said.

"Sounds like fun," Donna said as the front door opened and Jess stepped inside.

"Hey guys!" she exclaimed. She and Ike shared a quick hug and kiss.

"Hi Jess," Taylor and Donna said.

"Guys!!" Zac yelled from upstairs.

"Come down here and talk to us!" Isaac yelled back. A few seconds later, Zac ran down the stairs and almost directly into a wall.

"Careful Zac," Diana said, walking by holding Mackenzie under one arm and a basket of laundry under the other. "Well hello girls," she said.

"Hi Mrs. Hanson," Donna said. Diana placed Mackie on the floor and turned to the three boys.

"Do you guys have plans for tonight?" she asked. Isaac and Taylor looked at Jess and Donna. They shrugged.

"I guess not," Isaac said. "Why?"

"I need you guys to watch the kids. I have to go to the doctor," Diana said.

"Is something wrong?" Donna asked in a concerned voice.

"Oh no! Of course not," Diana said. "Just a regular check-up." Donna gave Taylor a questioning look.

"Ummm...we forgot to tell you. Mom's pregnant," he said grinning.

"Really?" Donna asked excitedly. "That's great! When are you due?"

"Late January," Diana said with a smile.

"Well congratulations!" Donna exclaimed.

"Thanks hon," Diana said. "So what do you guys say? Will you watch them tonight?"

"Sure mom," Taylor said. "We’d be glad to."
