About 45 minutes later, Donna and Taylor returned from their walk.
"Thanks a lot Tay," Donna said as they walked up her driveway. "That was really nice of you."
"Anytime," Tay said. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye," Donna said as Taylor walked over to his house and Donna opened the front door. "Hello?" she called.
"Hi sweetheart!" her mom called from the kitchen. Donna walked down the hallway and into the kitchen.
"Hey mom," she said as she opened the fridge and took out a can of Pepsi. "Long time, no see." Donna sat down across from her mother at the table. Her mother was sitting in front of her laptop.
"What are you doing?" she asked as she opened the can and took a sip.
"Working," was her mother's answer. "I have to do some research for one of my clients."
"Oh," Donna said as she glanced at the clock. It read 7:45. "Oh yeah," Donna said. "Jess is sleeping over tonight, okay?"
"Sure dear," Donna's mom said as she continued typing.
"Oh and I have a date tomorrow. I'll be in my room."
"Wait," Donna's mother said as she turned to look at Donna. "You have a date? With who?" Donna sat back down.
"With the guy that lives next door. His name is Taylor. He and I are going on a double date with his older brother and Jessica. And don't worry mom. I promise he is a nice, normal, guy. Do you want to meet him?" Donna asked.
"What time is he coming over?" her mother asked as she turned back to her laptop.
"7:00,” Donna said.
"Oh sorry honey, I won't be home. Maybe another time." her mom said.
"Well, when is Dad getting back from his business trip?" Donna asked.
"Not for another week."
"Oh, okay," Donna said as she walked out of the kitchen. "I'll be in my room. Send Jess up when she gets here, okay?"
"Okay!" her mom replied. Donna ran up the two flights of stairs and into her bedroom. She placed her Pepsi on her desk and picked up some clothes that were scattered on her carpet. She tossed them in the hamper.
"Donna?" Donna ran out of her room and to the top of the stairs.
"Up here Jess!" she yelled down. Jessica ran up the stairs and greeted Donna with a hug.
"Hi Jess," Donna said.
"Hey Donna. Thanks for inviting me over. You have the coolest house!"
"Thanks," Donna said as she led Jess to her bedroom. "You can put your stuff on the bed." Jess put her sleeping bag, pillow, and overnight bag on Donna's bed.
"So, what do you want to do?" Jess asked.
"I don't know," Donna said. "My house is kind of boring." Jess walked over to the window and peered out it.
"Hey look!" she exclaimed. "You can see right into their bedroom!" Donna walked over to Jess.
"Yeah I know." Donna looked out and giggled. The guys were in the middle of a big pillow fight.
"Looks like they're having fun," Donna commented.
"Let's go over!" Jess exclaimed.
"Are you sure they won't mind? I mean we spent practically the whole day with them!" Donna said.
"No way!" Jess said as she walked towards the door. "Come on. We'll sneak up on them."
Jess and Donna went downstairs and Donna told her mom where she would be. Then the two girls ran over to the Hanson's house. Jess opened the door and walked in, followed by Donna. A little boy ran up to them and wrapped himself around Jessica's leg.
"Who's that?" Donna asked. Jess leaned over and picked up the little boy.
"Donna meet Mackie," she said.
"Mackie?" Donna asked.
"Short for Mackenzie," Jess informed her.
"Oh. Well nice to meet you Mackie," Donna said as she took his tiny hand. Mackenzie looked at Donna and smiled.
"What a cute kid!" Donna exclaimed.
"Thank you," Diana Hanson said as she walked into the room.
"Oh hi Mrs. Hanson," Donna said. "I hope you don't mind that we came over."
"Not at all girls. If you're looking for the boys, I believe they are in their room."
"Thanks," Jess said as she placed Mackie on the floor and began climbing the stairs. Donna followed close behind. As they approached the boy's bedroom, the girls could hear the guys shouting. Donna cautiously looked into the bedroom and saw that the boys were still involved in their pillow fight. Jessica suddenly let out a shrill whistle. The guys stopped fighting long enough to see who had whistled.
"Hey Jess. Hey Donna," Ike said. "Care to join us in our little pillow fight?"
"No thanks," Jess said.
"Suit yourselves," Ike said as he whacked Zac in the head with a pillow. Zac fell to the ground and held his leg.
"My leg!" he cried out. "I think it's broken!" He shut his eyes and moaned loudly.
"Is he all right?" Donna whispered to Jess.
"Yeah, he's faking it," she answered. "Just ignore him." A few minutes later, Zac stood up.
"Some friends you guys are," he said. "Aren't you going to help me? My leg is broken!"
"Zac, how could you stand up if your leg was broken?" Taylor asked.
"Oh yeah!" Zac exclaimed as he fell onto the bed. "It is!"
"Right Zac," Taylor said as he threw his pillow at Zac. "So what are you guys doing here?" Tay asked Jess and Donna.
"Oh we were bored, so we decided to see if there was anything exciting going on here," Donna said.
"Well, we're pretty bored ourselves," Ike said. "Want to be bored together?"
"Sure," Donna and Jess said. Jess sat down on the desk chair, and Donna sat beside Zac on the bed. Zac opened his eyes and grinned.
"Will you help me fix my broken leg?" he asked.
"Of course Zac," Donna said as she kicked his leg. Zac yelped. "There. How's that?" Donna asked. Zac got up and walked around the room.
"It's a miracle!! I'm cured!!" he shouted as he began jumping on the bed.
"Zac calm down," Tay said, who was sitting on the floor beside Ike. Zac stopped jumping and sat beside Donna. "So..." Jess said. "What do you guys want to do?" The 5 sat in silence for a few minutes.
"How about we all watch a movie?" Ike suggested.
"That sounds good," Donna said. She stood up.
"Donna, I'm tired," Zac complained. "Will you give me a piggy back ride?"
"Sure. Hop on," Donna said. Zac hopped on Donna's back. "Man you're light!" Donna exclaimed.
"Come on," said Tay. "We can watch one in the basement." So the group walked downstairs, Zac riding on Donna's back, down to the basement.
"Okay Zac," Donna said when they got there. "Get down."
"No!" Zac said.
"Tay, would you give me a hand?" Donna asked Taylor.
"Gladly," Tay said as he walked over to Donna and pulled Zac off of her back.
"Thanks," Donna said as she sat on one of the two couches. Taylor sat beside her. Ike and Jess grabbed the other couch quickly and Zac was left standing in the middle of the room.
"Where am I going to sit?" he asked.
"Here," Taylor said as he shoved over closer to Donna. "Sit here." Zac sat down and gave Taylor a hug.
"Thanks Tay! You're the best brother ever!!"
"Get off me," Tay said. "So what movie do you guys want to watch?"
"How about Scream?" Ike asked.
"You have that?" Donna asked. "I have been dying to see it!"
"Is that okay with everyone?" Ike asked. Everyone nodded. "Okay then," he said as he got up to get the tape. "Scream it is!" Ike got the tape out of a cabinet and put it in the VCR.
"Yo Ike! Turn off the lights!" Zac said.
"Why?" Ike asked.
"So it's scarier!" "Fine," Ike said as he turned the lights off. It was pitch dark for a few seconds before the movie started. Suddenly, Donna felt something touch her shoulder. She shrieked and grabbed Tay's hand. She heard Zac laughing.
"Zac!!!" Donna yelled.
"Zac cut it out," Taylor said as he punched him in the shoulder.
"Okay, okay! Sorry," Zac said still laughing. Donna noticed that Jess and Ike were also holding hands. She guessed Zac had noticed too.
"Hey! I have no one to hold my hand! Oh well I guess I'll hold my own," he said. That brought on some laughs, but then the movie started and everyone settled back to watch.
