Chapter 17 of "Some Changes Are Good"

Donna paced throughout her house trying to calm her nervousness. She had tried everything. Watching t.v., reading, listening to music. But nothing worked. Donna glanced at the grandfather clock in the family room.

"Only 5:45?" she said aloud as she continued pacing. She ran smack into a table and yelped in pain. She reached down and rubbed her knee. "I have got to calm down," she said as she limped up the staircase. She made her way into her bedroom and turned on her c.d. player. Soon "Thinking of You" was blasting from her speakers. Donna had purchased the c.d. when she had gone to the mall with Jess. She had figured it would help her learn the words. Donna fell onto her bed and closed her eyes.

"ZAC!!!!" Tay yelled. "You've been in the bathroom for a half hour! Did you die in there?" Tay pounded on the bathroom door. A few seconds later, Zac emerged.

"Jeez Tay," he said. "A little tense?" Taylor ran into the bathroom and slammed the door shut. Zac walked into his bedroom. Ike was strumming his guitar, working on a new song.

"Hey Ike," Zac said. "What's Tay's problem?" Ike put down his guitar and stood up.

"I think he's nervous," he said as he put on his shoes.

"Yeah, but he doesn't usually get like this."

"Well, it might be because Donna will be there," Ike said. "Speaking of Donna, she should have been here already. I wonder what's keeping her." "Hey I know!!" Zac exclaimed jumping up. "Tay's in love!"

"Zac shut up. Tay will here you," Ike said. Zac ignored him.

"Tay's in love. Tay's in love. Tay's in love," he yelled as he ran around the room.

Taylor examined his reflection in the mirror one more time and opened the bathroom door. He heard Zac yelling from the room. As he got closer, he could make out what he was saying. "Tay loves Donna!!" Taylor stormed into the bedroom and glared at Ike and Zac. Zac was silent.

"Hehe...hi Tay," he said.

"Ike, I can't trust you with anything!" Tay exclaimed.

"Zac stay here," Ike said as he pulled Tay out of the room.

"That's the last time I tell you anything," Tay muttered to Ike.

"Tay, I didn't say anything. Zac is just doing that to annoy you," Ike said. "I promise I haven't said anything to anyone." Taylor looked at Ike and realized he was telling the truth.

"Okay, sorry Ike. Guess I'm a little nervous."

"It's okay," Ike said. "But Donna is late, so I'm wondering where she is. Will you run over to her house and get her?"

"Sure," Tay said as he made his way down the stairs. "Be right back." Taylor ran out of the house and over to Donna's. He knocked on the door. No one answered. He opened the door and went inside.

"Donna?" he yelled. No answer again.

Taylor began walking up the steps to Donna's room. He found her bedroom door was open and he peeked inside. Tay smiled to himself. Donna was sound asleep on her bed. Donna felt someone shaking her and calling her name. She slowly opened her eyes. She awoke to find a pair of blue eyes looking into her eyes. She gasped and sat up quickly, banging her head into Taylor's. Tay fell to the floor.

"Oops! Sorry Tay," Donna said as she helped him up. She rubbed her head. "Guess I dozed off."

"Well," Tay said as he rubbed his head. "Are you ready to go?"

"Yeah, let's go," Donna said as she walked out of her room. Taylor followed her downstairs. The two walked over to the Hanson house and back up to the guys bedroom.

"Hey guys," Donna said upon entering. "Are we leaving?"

"Yep," Ike said as he took the keys to the truck off of the dresser. "Let's go." The four went back downstairs and out to the truck. They got in and were on their way.
