Chapter 31 of "Some Changes Are Good"

The next week went fast. Donna was anticipating her birthday, which was only a few days away. The guys, Jess and Donna had hung out together the whole week. But they were leaving tomorrow. So Donna was going to go over there to watch a movie with them and Jessica before they left for London the next day.

Donna was in her room, getting ready to go. She knew it was a chilly night, so she wore a pair of baggy jeans and a long pale blue sweater. She gave her hair a few brushes, and walked out of her bedroom. She pounded down the stairs and out the front door. She ran over to the Hanson's house and let herself in. She ran up the stairs and to the guys room. She knocked on the partly-closed door. Taylor opened it for her.

"Are you guys ready to go?" she asked.

"Almost," Tay said as he walked back into the room.

"Where's Jess?" he asked.

"On her way," Donna replied as she walked over and sat on Taylor's bed. Zac was putting on his sneakers, and Isaac was trying to find his ring.

"Guys?" Donna heard Jess yell from downstairs.

"Up here Jess!" Donna yelled back. Jess came up the stairs and appeared at the doorway.

"Are we going?" she asked.

"Yeah," Zac said standing up. "Can we go now?" Isaac found his ring and put it on.

"Tay you ready?" he asked. Taylor nodded.

"Okay let's go," Ike said.

They all went downstairs and out to the truck. Jess got in the passenger seat, and Donna, Tay, and Zac squeezed into the backseat.

"So what movie are we seeing anyway?" Jess asked.

"Well it's a toss-up between "Face-Off" and "Good Burger"," Ike said.

"I want to see Face-Off," Taylor said.

"Me too," Donna said. "But I want to see Good Burger," Zac said. "That looks good," Jess said in agreement. "I really don't care what we see," Isaac said.

"Well how about you, me and Zac see Good Burger, and Tay and Donna see Face-Off?" Jess asked.

"That sounds good to me," Donna said.

Donna and Taylor agreed to meet Ike, Zac and Jess outside the theatre after the movie was over. Donna and Taylor bought their tickets and food, and went into the theatre. They found seats right in the middle and sat down.

"I'm glad I wore a sweater," Donna said. "It's freezing in here!" Taylor nodded in agreement. The movie began and they settled back to watch.

About 2 and a half hours later, the movie ended. Donna stood up and stretched. She followed Taylor out of the theatre and into the main lobby. She looked at her watch.

"They should be out soon," Donna commented. Taylor nodded.

"Let's wait outside," he said. Donna and Taylor walked outside and sat on the front steps.

"It's hard to believe it's still August," Donna said. "It was never this cold in August back in Jersey." Taylor looked up at the sky. Donna looked up as well. "What are you looking at?" she asked.

"The stars," Taylor said. "They're so beautiful." Donna laughed.

"Do you always get this sentimental at night?" she asked.

"Donna," Taylor said as he looked at her. "Are you sure you aren't mad at me because I'm going to miss your birthday?" Donna rolled her eyes.

"Tay you know I don't mind. You have to go to London, and you'll just happen to be there on my birthday. No big deal," she paused. "Although a present would be nice," she said. Taylor thought for a second.

"I know what I'll give you," he said.

"Taylor, I was kidding."

"No," he said. "Look up." Donna obeyed. "Do you see that bright star? Next to the handle of the Big Dipper?" Donna nodded. "Well that's your present."

"You're giving me a star for my birthday?" Donna asked. "Not quite. While we're away, I want you to look at that star and think of us. Its your star. Happy Birthday."

"Awwww...Tay that is so sweet!" Donna exclaimed. She gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. She looked up at the star Taylor had picked out for her. "This is the best birthday present ever." Taylor blushed.

"Hey guys. You ready to go?"

Donna and Taylor turned around to see Ike, Jess, and Zac standing behind them. They stood up.

"Yep, let's go," Donna said. "So how was the movie?" she asked as they walked back to the truck.

"Very...umm..." Jess started.

"Interesting," Isaac added.

"Thanks Ike," Jess said.

"Welcome to Good Burger, Home of the Good Burger. Can I take your order?" Zac said imitating the main character of the movie.

"Very funny Zac," Taylor said rolling his eyes. Everyone got into the truck and shut the doors.

"I'm a dude, she's a dude, he's a dude, so we're all dudes. HEY!" Zac sang.

"Zac calm down," Ike said.

"So what time are you guys leaving tomorrow?" Jess asked.

"8:00 sharp," Taylor said.

"You better write," Donna said.

"We will," Taylor said. "We promise."
