Chapter 34 of "Some Changes Are Good"

Donna rubbed her cheek as she walked into the house. Josh had gotten really upset because Donna had hugged Taylor. She had tried to explain that they were just friends, but Josh didnít listen. He blew up and hit her. After he had hit her, he apologized profusely, saying how much he loved her, and that he couldn't live without her. Donna had forgiven him.

"I guess he does have a point," Donna said to herself as she walked up to her room. She sat at her desk and turned on her computer. She was just about to log on to the Internet, when the phone rang. Donna searched for her cordless, and found it under her bed on the third ring.

"Hello? Oh hi Taylor," Donna said. "What do you mean?" she paused. "Oh okay. Sure. I'll be right over." Donna paused again. "She is? Oh good. No I haven't seen her in a while. Okay, I'll be right over. Bye." Donna hung up the phone.

Taylor had invited Donna over to watch a movie with him, Ike, Zac and Jess. Donna put on a pair of sandals and went into the bathroom. She tried to make the red welt on her cheek as unnoticeable as possible. She ran down the stairs and out the front door. She walked over to the Hanson's. Donna opened the door and let herself in.

"Hello?" she called.

"Downstairs Donna!" she heard someone yell. So Donna walked down the basement steps. She found Ike and Jess sitting on the couch, watching Tay and Zac have an arm wrestling competition. Donna sat beside Jess on the couch.

"Hey Donna!" Jess said turning to her.

"Hi Jess," Donna said.

"Oh my gosh Donna!" Jess exclaimed.

"What?" Donna asked.

"What happened to your face?" Donna touched the welt on her cheek. Taylor and Zac paused to look at Donna's face.

"Oh ummm...I ran into my door. Stupid me," Donna said giggling nervously. Taylor shook his head and turned back to Zac.

"Haha beat you!" Zac exclaimed as he jumped up and ran around.

"Are we going to watch the movie or not?" Jess asked.

"Well, which movie?" Taylor asked. "Umm....how about Independence Day?" Ike asked.

Everyone nodded their heads in agreement. Donna sat on the armchair furthest from the t.v. Ike, Jess and Zac shared the couch, and Taylor sat on the floor. The movie began, and everyone settled back to watch. About halfway through the movie, the faint sound of a phone ringing came from upstairs.

"Donna?" Donna heard Diana yell downstairs. "Phone for you!" Donna jumped up and ran upstairs. She took the phone from Diana and thanked her.

"Hello?" Donna asked. "Josh! How did you get this number? Nothing. Just watching a movie with the guys and..." Donna paused. "Josh they are my FRIENDS. Calm down. Can't it wait till later?" Donna paused again. "Fine. I'll be over in a sec." Donna hung up the phone and went back downstairs.

"I gotta go guys," she said. "I'll talk to you later." Donna pounded up the stairs and out the front door. She walked over to her house to meet Josh.
