Isaac pulled into the hotel parking lot about 15 minutes later.
"Umm...we weren’t expecting you to come," he said as he exited the truck. "But we'll probably be able to find someplace for you to sleep." Donna shrugged as she stepped out of the truck.
"Whatever," she said in a tired voice.
She and Isaac walked into the lobby and took the elevator up to the 14th floor. Donna followed Isaac down the long hallway until he stopped in front of one of the doors. He knocked on it, and a few seconds later, it opened. A weary-looking Diana Hanson was standing in the doorway.
"Hi Mrs.Hanson," Donna said upon entering the hotel room.
"Hello Donna," she replied as she turned to Isaac. "What did your father say?" she asked him.
"He said he wanted you to come down to the hospital. I guess he wants some company," Isaac said as he sat on one of the beds.
"Well, that's understandable," Diana said as she walked over to the dresser. She picked her pocketbook off the floor and walked over to the door. "Zac, Jess, Avery, and Mac are in the other room. Last I checked, Mackie was sleeping. Your father or I should be back later. We'll call you if anything changes," she said as she opened the door.
Isaac nodded, and Diana shut the door. Donna walked over to the door that led to the adjoining room, and pulled it open. Zac was watching t.v., Jess and Avery were playing a game, and sure enough, Mackenzie was sound asleep in the playpen the Hanson's had brought with them. Isaac pulled Donna back.
"Donna, try not to say anything about Tay, okay? They don't know how bad it is. Mom told them he just broke his arm," he said in a low voice. Donna nodded and re-entered the room.
"Hi guys!" she said enthusiastically. Zac looked up and waved.
"Hi Donna!!" he said happily. He then turned back to the television set. Donna felt something pulling on her leg. She looked down and saw 6-year old Avery tugging at her jeans.
"Donna? Will you and Ikey play a game with me and Jessie?" she asked.
"No thanks Avery," Ike said as he sat on the floor in front of the t.v. "I think I'll sit this one out." Donna kneeled down.
"You guys can count me in," she said with a smile. "What are we playing?"
"Trouble," Jessica said as she set up the game.
"Sounds like fun," Donna said as she looked at the phone on the night stand.
