Chapter 6 of "Some Changes Are Good"

Donna awoke the next morning to bright sunlight in her face. She lay in her bed for a few minutes then remembered that Ike, Tay, Zac, and Jess were going to show her around town that day. So Donna got up, showered, put on her makeup and tried to decide what to wear. She finally decided on a pair of white cutoff shorts and a light blue and white tie-dyed tank top. Donna took a quick look in the mirror and went downstairs.

She walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table. Neither of her parents were up yet, and Jess wasn't supposed to come for at least another 20 minutes. Donna spotted her mothers lap top on the counter and walked over to it. She picked it up and sat back down again. She thought for a second, then turned it on. She logged onto the Internet and went to a net search. Donna typed in "Hanson" and hit the search button.

Within a few seconds a long list of Hanson web sites came on the screen. Donna scrolled down to the bottom and searched those results for Taylor Hanson. Another, shorter list came up, and Donna scrolled down slowly.

"Ah ha!" she said as she saw a site called "All About Taylor Hanson".

Donna clicked on the link, and was brought to a page all about Taylor. Donna sat there for about 5 minutes and soon knew so much about Taylor, it was overwhelming. Donna did notice that she and Tay had a lot in common. She logged off and shut the lap top down. Donna looked at her watch and realized Jess would be there any minute. As if on cue, the doorbell rang. Donna ran to answer it and let Jess in.

"Hi Jess," Donna said as she opened the front door and let Jess in.

"Hey Donna. You ready to go?"

"Yep," Donna answered. "Let me just write my parents a note."

Donna ran to the kitchen and searched through the drawers until she found a pad of paper and a pencil. She scrawled a note saying she'd be around town with her friends.

"Okay," she said when she was finished. "Let's go." Donna and Jess left the house and walked next door. Jess opened the door and walked in.

"Don't you knock or anything?" Donna asked.

"No way," Jess answered. "We've been friends so long, there's no need to." Donna heard a faint sound of music coming from below her.

"I think they're in the basement," she said.

"As usual," Jess replied as she walked toward the basement door. "Come on." Jess and Donna walked downstairs. Donna could hear Taylor's voice as she followed Jess down the stairs.

"Hey guys!!" Jess yelled over the music. The guys stopped playing and Ike looked at his watch.

"11 already? Wow time sure flies when you're having fun," he said.

"Are you ready?" Jess asked. The guys nodded and walked towards them. Actually, Ike and Tay walked. Zac kind of jumped away from his drums and raced up the stairs.

"Looks like Zac's on another sugar high," Ike stated as the rest of them walked up the stairs.

They went outside and started walking down the street. Donna found herself staring at Taylor. He looked especially good that day. His hair was tied back in a ponytail and his blue eyes were sparkling. Ike was talking about Tulsa, but Donna barely heard it. She was too busy studying Tay. He was wearing baggy shorts and a red tee shirt

"Right Donna?" Donna heard Ike ask. She shook her head and turned to Ike.

"What?" she asked.

"I said you probably like Tulsa already," Ike said.

"Oh yeah!" Donna said. "It's great!" The group continued walking.

"I'm tired," Zac complained. "Why didn't we rollerblade?"

"Well, I don't know if Donna knows how to," Ike said. "Do you?" he asked Donna.

"Well, sort of. But I'm not that good."

"You should see Tay blade! He's the best!" Jess said. Donna looked at Tay.

"Maybe could you teach me how to sometime?" she asked him. Tay looked up at her and nodded.

"Sure," he said. "Just ask me whenever you want to, you know..." Taylor was blushing furiously.

"Great," Donna said smiling. At the end of the day, the five returned, exhausted.

"Thanks guys," Donna said. "That was really nice of you."

"No problem," Ike replied. "See you later!" Zac said as the three brothers walked over to their house. Jess and Donna stood outside Donna's house.

"Hey, I have an idea!" Jess said. "How about you sleep over my house tonight?" Donna nodded enthusiastically.

"That sounds great!" she exclaimed. "Come on. I'll go ask my parents."
